Summer 2010 - Greetings Dear Friends,
I am convinced that when the end of the world comes, it will arrive not as two clashing armies on the brink of war, but as a "last straw": the keystroke that deletes a morning's worth of unsaved work; the telephone call that causes you heart to skip a beat; the request to perform yet another task.

February 2010 - Lenten Greetings Dear Friends!
The Gospel of Luke tells us that, “When the days drew near for him [Jesus] to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem” (Lk 9:51). This image of Jesus “resolutely determined” – as another translation puts it – to journey toward his rendezvous with destiny is a fitting image for the season of Lent.

December 2009 - Greetings Dear Friends!
As I write this article, it’s mid-November. . . two weeks before I begin my ministry as your Interim Pastor. I look forward to our ministry together.

April 2009 - It’s a great step forward that many churches now hold Easter vigils, as the Orthodox church has always done, but in many cases they are still too tame by half. Easter is about the wild delight of God’s creative power . . . we ought to shout Alleluias instead of murmuring them;

From my report to the Annual Congregational Meeting (01/18/2009):
We want you to know, brothers and sisters, about the grace of God that has been granted to the churches of Macedonia; for during a severe ordeal of affliction, their abundant joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part.
